I just read a post on CL: " oh man! was at snafu last weekend, friday i think, and it was AWESOME! the music kinda sucked... like i'm not into raves and stuff, but it was fun dancing but i feel like there weren't any chicks... where you girls hang out? and! wanna came hang out at snafu and get your dance on? there were more gay boys then anyone else there but they were soooo fun to watch and dance with! AND! SNAFU is MOVING! Joe Fedrigos old building is AWESOME! two floors and lots of fun kiding places, 2 bars and REALLY nice bathrooms... i heard they are going to have more dj's that are actually queer.... should be cool! see you at snafu? "
Sounds like good news. I remember the place being so packed, that you could not see anybody. My friends and I are hoping that some cool DJs will play there, because we are so off put by stale old hip hop from 20 years ago. We want to hear new beats, house and some NEW Music out of NY, Canada and Europe. We ARE lesbians, but we enjoy fresh mixes from talented, cutting edge DJs. There are plenty of moldy oldies at Hot Flash, however music at "Queer" clubs needs to be Orgasmic for me to get flirty on the dance floor. The best clubs with a mix of interesting people are in West LA and Santa Monica. I'd have to say it was the music and the eclectic bunch of people from all over that brought me back every weekend. We can do it Eugene! Portland has failed the lesbian scene. Here is a chance to make them come here for a real club.
first and only club since i turned 21, and I love it. ok it's a little small, hard to find, and the entrance fee to boot. But you know? it's comfy, you can nab a nice fruity drink from eye-candy bartenders, then let go on the dance floor or chill in the nice lil cubby holes and leopard print wall seats. Also you get great Djs so you dont get bored, and dress up events so you can skip the cover fee. The only improvement I can really think of for the place is a new building, preferably one with more than one bathroom and double the amount of dance floor.
